Using the Libraries
The following persons are eligible to use the KUAS Library System.
- General members of the public (persons who live near KUAS)
- Alumni
- Students of other universities with a letter of introduction of an Interlibrary Browing Pass
- Any other person authorized by the Library Director
Based on our philosophy as a university that is open to the local community, the KUAS Library System provides the public with academic information from our collection. We hope that our community members will use our libraries as a conduit for lifelong learning.
How to Apply
- Please apply for a library card at the library you wish to use. Please note that the main library at Kyoto Kameoka Campus and the North Library at Kyoto Uzumasa Campus can issue library cards.
A Kameoka Library card cannot be used at the Uzumasa Campus and vice versa. Please apply for a library card at each campus that you intend to use the library.

Items Required for Library Usage Application
- Valid photo ID with name and address (one of the below)
- Driver's license
- Health insurance card
- Student handbook
- Student ID with address
- Other items issued by a public institution that can be used to confirm your name and address
- A seal bearing your name
◆ Graduation certificate *Only required of alumni who will use the Uzumasa Campus Library. For those who do not submit a graduation certificate, they will be treated as a general public visitor.
Registration takes 10-15 minutes.
Library Rules
- A library card is required to enter the library and when borrowing media or using library facilities.
- Cell phone calls, smoking, eating and drinking are not allowed in the library.
- Bags and other personal items may be brought into the library. Please place wet umbrellas in the umbrella stand or inside a plastic bag.
- Do not leave personal belongings or books unattended. Always hold on to valuables.
- Please handle library materials with care. Please do not fold pages, draw lines or write in notes in the books. If a book is defaced or lost, the persons responsible will be required to pay for the damages.
- Visitors may be asked to leave if they disrupt other users or do not follow the instructions of the staff.
- General members of the public may not use the archives in the Kameoka Campus libraries nor in the Uzumasa Campus South Library and North Library Learning Commons.

- Newspapers and magazines cannot be checked out of the libraries.
- Late returns will result in a temporary suspension of borrowing privileges.
- Only media from the library's collection may be borrowed.
Photocopies of newspapers, magazines and books
- Copies may be made within the extent allowed by copyright law (for a fee).
If you wish to use the copier, please ask at the counter. - Photocopying services may not be available before and during examinations.
