Brief Biography

Born in Osaka in 1969. Research Fellow at the Research Center for World Buddhist Cultures, Ryukoku University. He received his PhD in Indology from the University of Freiburg, Germany. His areas of specialization include the intellectual history of Indian Buddhism and Buddhist commentarial literature produced in Southeast Asia. He is the author of Die Vessantaradīpanī. Ein Pali Kommentar aus Nordthailand (2011). His current research focuses on the historical development of Buddhist thought from the Buddha to Nāgārjuna and Vasubandhu, and on comparative studies of Pāli and Sanskrit texts.
