The Information Center is responsible for the smooth operation and proper management of computer maintenance and network systems such as the campus network and the Internet.

About Student Assistants (SA)

What is a Student Assistant?

Student Assistants (SAs) are support staff of the Information Technology Center who are staffed by TUMSAT students.

Their main duties are to provide support and assistance to users in classes and open classrooms when they have questions or problems.
They wear red armbands when performing their duties.

Recruitment of Student Assistants

Every year, we recruit new Student Assistants in May-June (fall recruitment) and November-December (spring recruitment for the following year).
Applicants are given a “competency check” and an “answer and explanation (workshop)” for the check.
After that, they are required to submit a recommendation form from a full-time faculty member in charge of the seminar.

Application Requirements

  • Applicants must be students of the university and currently in their first or second year.
  • Basic knowledge of computers (Word, Excel, etc.) (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Possess and use an e-mail address with the University’s domain.

Rough job description

  • Assist in teaching classes in the computer classroom.
  • Assist students in open classrooms.

Basic working hours

  • Assignments will be made based on the availability of classes, the time required by the Information Center, and the balance of work with other Student Assistants.
    When the application period is over, information will be posted on the bulletin board of the Information Center and in front of the PC classrooms, etc. Please refer to the bulletin for details.

Netiquette is the manner of using the Internet and e-mail.
Please observe netiquette when using the University’s Internet and e-mail.

Examples of typical netiquette

  • Be clear about your whereabouts.
  • Do not slander others or write emotionally offensive material.
  • Do not write personal information such as credit card numbers, IDs, or passwords.
  • Do not use half-width katakana characters or machine dependent characters.
  • When quoting, take copyrights into consideration.
  • Do not use the information for solicitation or commercial purposes.
  • Do not send chain mail or spam mail.
