The KUAS Robotics Team (KUASロボコン) captured the championship title at the first-ever Kansai Natsu Robocon 2025, held on August 23 at Active Square Daito Gymnasium in Daito City, Osaka. The event was organized by the Kansai Harurobo Organizing Committee and featured the competition task “Jōtō (上棟)”, a challenge themed around raising a building frame, and brought together top university teams from across the region. Kansai Natsu Robocon is a summer robotics tournament created for college and university-level teams who aspire to participate in the NHK Robocon and related competitions.

Team Composition
The KUAS team comprises 11 undergraduate students from the School of Engineering specializing in mechanical and electrical systems engineering with majors in robotics and mechatronics. The team routinely enters regional contests to sharpen practical engineering skills, project management, and leadership skills.
Voices from the Team
Team Leader, Tekla Kintsurashvili:
“Our robot’s design emphasized agility, reliability and adaptability. We refined it through rapid iteration and testing. Our team members’ enthusiasm and prior experience in building robots—including, but not limited to, participation in the Kansai Spring Robocon in March 2025—was the key to this success. We’re grateful to our faculty advisors for their mentorship and support.”
Faculty Supervisor, Dr. Sajid Nisar:
“It was gratifying to see the KUAS robot perform consistently through qualifying and knockout rounds. This achievement reflects our students’ strong engineering knowledge, practical know-how and ability to perform in challenging tasks.”
