On Thursday, November 6, a LinkedIn Seminar was held at the KUAS Uzumasa Campus.
The aim of this seminar was to introduce LinkedIn and how it can be used through examples to international students as a potential option to use in their job-hunting activities as it has been getting attention in Japan to broaden their career possibilities by utilizing LinkedIn for future career exploration and professional networking.
Ms. Jana Zdilova from LinkedIn Japan was invited to deliver the seminar in English as a guest lecturer.
During the seminar, Ms. Zdilova gave a clear and detailed explanation about the basics of using LinkedIn in Japan and overseas, how to create a powerful profile, techniques for networking, gathering information and connecting with companies, as well as common pitfalls and mistakes, all illustrated with concrete examples.
During the program, one of the senior international students currently enrolled at KUAS also participated and shared how they used LinkedIn to advance their job search and secure a job offer. Their experience served as inspiration for the other students leading to a lively Q&A session.
Approximately 50 students attended the seminar, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive with an average survey score of 4.7 out of 5.
Student comments:
“It was very informative and helpful.”
“I felt motivated to update my LinkedIn page more often.”
“The presentation was clear and easy to understand.”
“I learned a lot about how to build a strong profile.”
“I now realize how LinkedIn can help me in my future career.”
The Career Development Center will continue to promote initiatives that support international students in developing their careers and pursuing employment opportunities
We are also considering holding a similar seminar in Japanese in the future.
