The curtains have closed on EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, but for 29 students from our university, the experience will resonate for years to come. In collaboration with the Swiss Pavilion, the university launched and successfully completed the Student Ambassador Program, giving students a unique opportunity to connect global science and technology with society.
The Swiss Pavilion, themed “From Heidi to High Tech,” showcased Switzerland’s fusion of Alpine culture and cutting-edge innovation. Visitors explored exhibits under three key themes: Augmented Human, Life, and Planet, encountering technologies ranging from modular robots to biodiversity monitoring systems.
The Student Ambassador Program, supported by Swissnex, Switzerland’s international science and education network, brought together students from Japan, Myanmar, India, Uzbekistan, and beyond.

Divided into three rounds, participants introduced visitors to groundbreaking exhibits such as:
• Augmented Human: Modular robot “Robogami,” etc.
• Life: Advanced medical robotics and research “RobotCare”, etc.
• Planet: Biodiversity monitoring “Drones and eDNA” and the artificial “Akasango Reef,”etc.
Before stepping into their roles, students underwent training to master the exhibits and deliver clear, multilingual explanations to visitors. Their efforts paid off—not only in the success of the program but in personal growth.
“I gained the confidence to take on challenges and act proactively toward the future,” one student shared.
“I realized the importance of connecting technology and society,” said another.
This initiative began with the visit of Dr. Felix Moesner, Consul and Head of Post, Consulate of Switzerland in Osaka, in March 2023. We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Moesner for his support, as well as to the Swissnex and Swiss Pavilion team for their warm assistance on site.

This collaboration reflects the university’s vision of “learning that connects with the world.” By engaging on an international stage, students expanded their horizons and strengthened their role as global citizens. The university remains committed to creating opportunities that foster cross-cultural learning and innovation.
