Brief Biography

Dr. Parissa Haghirian is a recognized expert on Japanese management and cross-cultural business practices. Her academic background includes an MA in Japanese Studies from the University of Vienna and both an MA and PhD in International Business and Marketing from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.

Dr. Haghirian began her academic career as an Assistant Professor at Kyushu Sangyo University in Fukuoka from 2004 to 2006. She then became a Professor of International Business at Sophia University in Tokyo, where she taught for nearly two decades. From April 2025, she is a Professor of International Management and Marketing at Kyoto University of Advanced Science (KUAS).

She has held visiting professorships at prestigious institutions such as HEC Paris (France), Keio University and Waseda University (Japan), Aalto University (Finland), the University of Graz and Vienna (Austria), Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich (Germany), and Sharif University (Iran). Dr. Haghirian has published extensively on Japanese management, including books like The Routledge Handbook of Japanese Business and Management and Overcoming Crisis – Case Studies of Asian Multinational Corporations.

Beyond academia, Dr. Haghirian consults with multinational corporations on cross-cultural management and leadership, coaching executives to navigate the complexities of multicultural environments. She is also a regular keynote speaker at conferences and corporate events across Japan, Europe, and Asia, sharing her insights on global business practices.
