インターンシップセンター主催　秋学期イベント実施報告第３回「トンガリ人材への道〜How do I get there?〜」

KUAS全学生、教職員向けに「トンガリ人材への道」というイベントを実施しています。第3回ではトーチリレー代表取締役 “隊長” 神保拓也氏にご登壇頂きました。

神保氏はユニクロで有名なファーストリテイリンググループ上席執行役員に史上最年少で就任され、昨年、人の「心に火をつける」ことを目指し、株式会社トーチリレーを設立されました。

「いま、あなたの心に火はついていますか？」。

イベントでは神保氏が人生を山に例え、山登りの登山隊 “隊長”としてご自身の登山録を語られました。心に火をつけるためにはまず登りたい山となる目標や目的を見つけること。

暗闇を明るく照らすように「一悶一灯」と題された講演後の質疑応答では、学生らから想い溢れる質問が相次ぎ、予定時間を1時間以上超える内容の濃さになりました。

大学に入学するとキラキラしたキャンパスライフが待っていると期待していたが、実際に始まると何をして良いか分からない、何に力を入れるべきなのか、想像していた大学生活と何かが違うという悩みを抱えながらも上手く言葉に出来ず、何事にも自信を持って取組めている人は少ないのではないでしょうか。

そんな学生達に寄り添いながらも、神保隊長は熱く、厳しく、真っすぐ向き合ってくれました。ご自身の人生を「登山録」として生まれた頃から今に至るまで、まるで人生に足を踏み入れたかのように想像できるほど、詳細に、テンポよく、面白く、笑いあり、涙ありで語ってくれました。神保隊長の登山録が終わる頃には会場全員が一つの映画を見終えたかのような心地よい一体感が生まれていました。

そんな神保隊長へ第2部の「一悶一灯」では学生が想い想いに質問をしました。自分自身のこと、就職活動のこと、将来のことなど。本気で向き合い応えてくれるからこそ学生が本音で悩みを打ち明けました。質問が止まらない学生の様子をみて、1時間以上延長して対応して下さった神保隊長からは懐の深さとエネルギーを感じました。

イベント終了後は言葉に表せない程、ただただ全員が熱くなっていました。良い時間だった、どう思う？どう感じた？と晴れ晴れしい気持ちで誰かと何かをしたくなるような、期待していたキャンパスライフは自分がつくるのだと、目の前の山を全力で登るのだと、学生の言葉の端々からは強い決意を感じました。

心に火を灯して下さった神保隊長へ感謝の気持ちを込めて、学生たちが心の火を他学生にもトーチリレーのように灯しながら、本学から日本、世界へ向けた第一歩を踏み出すイベントとなりました。

イベント「トンガリ人材への道」の目的：

社会との接点を提供するゲストスピーカーの講話を通じて、参加者へ自分の人生やキャリアと真剣に向き合う機会を提供しています。就職活動等で将来のキャリアを想像できない一つの要因は在学中に社会との接点が少ないことだと考えます。学内外の出会いを通じてネットワークを広げ、様々な人の価値観を学ぶことが自分自身の理解を深めることにつながります。卒業後の働く姿が想像できるようになったり、学内はもちろん、学外活動にも力を入れるようになったり、学生生活を充実させる一歩になると考えています。

Round 3 of “Becoming a Top-Tier Talent ~How Do I Get There?~”

～Mr. Jimbo Takuya, Representative Director/Captain of Torch Relay～

At KUAS, the Internship Center is holding a series of events called "Becoming a Top-Tier Talent" for all students, faculty and staff. In the third round, Mr. Takuya Jimbo, Torch Relay Representative Director and "Mountain Climbing Captain", took the stage. Mr. Jimbo was the youngest person ever to be appointed as an Upper Executive Officer of Fast Retailing Group, famous for UNIQLO, and last year he established Torch Relay with the aim of "lighting a fire in the hearts" of people.

"Do you have a fire burning in your heart?”

At the event, Mr. Jimbo compared his life to mountain climbing and talked about his own climbing record as the "captain" of a mountain climbing team. He emphasized that in order to ignite your mind, you must first find a goal or purpose that will become the mountain you want to climb. In the Q&A session after the lecture, which was titled "One Thought, One Light", students asked many thoughtful questions, and the event ended up being extended by an hour.

When you enter university, you expect to have a sparkling campus life, but when you actually start, you may not know what to do, what you should focus on, or things may be a bit different from what you expected. There are few people who are able to tackle everything with confidence.

Captain Jimbo was passionate, strict, and straightforward in his approach towards students, while also upholding an approachable atmosphere. He talked about his life as a "mountaineering record", from the time he was born to now, with such heartfelt detail, tempo, fun, laughter, and tears that you could feel as if you were standing in his very own shoes. By the end of Captain Jimbo's account of the climb, a comfortable sense of unity was created, as if everyone in the hall had just finished watching a movie.

In the second part of the event, "One Thought, One Light," students had a chance to ask questions freely to Captain Jimbo. They asked him questions about themselves, their job hunting activities, their future, and so on. The students were able to share their worries honestly because they were able to receive a serious and genuine answer from Captain Jimbo. Seeing that the students continued asking questions, Mr. Jimbo extended the session for more than an hour, and everyone could feel the depth of his heart and energy.

After the event, everyone was very enthusiastic and energized. It was a time of open conversation, where everyone talked about how they thought and felt. Everyone was burning with a strong determination to create the student life they envisioned for themselves, and to climb their own mountain with all their might.

Like a torch relay, Captain Jimbo lit fires in the hearts of the students, and those students will go on to light fires in the hearts of others. Without a doubt, this event sparked a desire in students to step out from university into Japanese society and make their mark in the world at large.

“Becoming a Top-Tier Talent” Event Series: Helping Students Connect with Society

This event speaker series provides students with opportunities to think more deeply about their future life and career choices. We believe that one of the reasons why students have difficulty imagining their future careers is that they have few chances to interact with working professionals while in school. Expanding your network through encounters on and off-campus and learning about the values of various people will lead to a deeper understanding of yourself. This will be a step towards enriching your student life, by helping you develop a clearer image for your future, and by acting as a starting point for accelerating your activities both on and off-campus.
