Scholarships

KUAS offers a variety of scholarships so that students can devote themselves to their studies and extracurricular activities. These scholarships range from grants that do not require repayment to scholarships that recognize the academic and athletic achievements of individuals and clubs. At KUAS, we are eager to support scholars who demonstrate great enthusiasm for learning.

KUAS Scholarships

Undergraduate

Super KUAS-E Scholarship
(Faculty of Engineering)
Super KUAS-E Scholarships are awarded to Faculty of Engineering applicants with outstanding academic records. Scholarship recipients are chosen during the admission process based on a comprehensive evaluation. 

Once a student is selected to receive a Super KUAS-E Scholarship, they are expected to maintain academic excellence (determined by semesterly performance reviews). 
※Provided to a few students each year.

KUAS-E Scholarship
(Faculty of Engineering)
KUAS-E Scholarships are awarded to Faculty of Engineering applicants with excellent academic records. Scholarship recipients are chosen during the admission process based on a comprehensive evaluation. 

Once a student is selected to receive a KUAS-E Scholarship, they are expected to maintain academic excellence (determined by semesterly performance reviews). 
※Provided to a few students each year.

Type 1:
100% of tuition
Type 2:
50% of tuition
Type 3:
30% of tuition

4 years (subject to semesterly performance reviews)

Advanced Scholarship This scholarship is intended for students in their second or subsequent academic year, with an emphasis placed on their performance as KUAS students.

Type 1: 2% of the number of students for each undergraduate year and department

Type 2: 3% of the number of students for each undergraduate year and department

Special Economic Aid Scholarship This scholarship is intended for:
1. students who are motivated to study but have difficulty paying tuition due to sudden family financial changes and
2. students who are planning to apply to a public loan system, such as the Kyoto City Public Loan System for Nurses.

Provided to a few students from each Faculty.

Type 1: The amount of financial aid to be provided per semester shall be up to the full amount of school fees, with the amount of the scholarship being deducted from fees the applicant would otherwise be required to pay.
School fees includes tuition, facility fees, and laboratory fees.

Type 2: Public Loan Applicant
20,000 yen
This scholarship is intended for students who have a sudden change in family finances and have difficulty attending school.

Provided to a few students from each Faculty.

Up to 50% of tuition 
This scholarship is intended for students who are outstanding in character and who enhance the reputation of KUAS by serving as a role model to other students.

Provided to approximately 10 students across all Faculties.

KUAS-E Scholarships are awarded to Graduate School of Engineering Master’s Program applicants with excellent academic records. Scholarship recipients are chosen during the admission process based on a comprehensive evaluation. 

Once a student is selected to receive a KUAS-E Scholarship, they are expected to maintain academic excellence (determined by semesterly performance reviews). 

Provided to a few students each year.

KUAS-E Scholarship

KUAS-E Scholarships are awarded to Graduate School of Engineering Doctoral Program applicants with excellent academic records. Scholarship recipients are chosen during the admission process based on an comprehensive evaluation. 

Once a student is selected to receive a KUAS-E Scholarship, they are expected to maintain academic excellence (determined by semesterly performance reviews).

External Scholarships

Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students  This is a scholarship program for privately-financed international students with excellent academic and character records who are already enrolled in an academic institution in Japan and have a student visa.

The period of this scholarship is one year. Applications are called for in late March.

Heiwa Nakajima Foundation

This scholarship is provided to foreign students enrolled at Japanese universities. Candidates are selected via recommendation by the host university.

The period of this scholarship is one year. Applications are called for from September to October every year.

Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation

This scholarship is for overseas students scheduled to enroll in a Japanese university.

 

The period for this scholarship is two years. Applications are called for in December.

Korean Scholarship Foundation
(Korean students only)

This program provides scholarships to Japanese-Korean and Korean exchange students in Japan who have good grades but have difficulty paying their school fees.

 

Applications to this one-year scholarship are called for in April to May.

SGH Foundation
(Southeast Asian students only)

This scholarship aims to provide support to outstanding privately-funded international students from Southeast Asian countries. 

 

The period for this scholarship is two years. Applications are called for in early April.

Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association
(Taiwanese graduate students only)

This program provides scholarships to Taiwanese exchange students who are scheduled to enter a master’s or doctoral program at a Japanese university.

 

The period for this scholarship is the duration of the student’s program (until graduation). Applications are called for in October.

Jang Bong Joon Scholarship Fund
(Asian students only)

This scholarship aims to support the daily lives of foreign students from Asian countries. 

 

Applications for this one-year scholarship are called for in April.

Club Grant

Scholarship Name Description
Club Equipment Subsidy     The KUAS Student Guardian Association subsidizes the cost of equipment and other items needed for club activities.
Club & Extracurricular Activity Grant This grant subsidizes the cost of association entrance fees, participation in competitions, club registration, accommodation, and venue fees for camps.

Awards

Award Name Description
Chairman’s Award This award is given to students of good character who have achieved academic excellence in the four years leading up to their graduation.
President’s Award The award is given to students who are of good character and have excelled in extracurricular activities during the four years leading up to their graduation.
Outstanding Club Award This award recognizes clubs and individuals who have accomplished outstanding achievements.

Incentives

Name Description
Study Incentive  Incentives will be awarded to students who have earned qualifications and certifications designated by the Career Support Center.
