Mariko Nagano

Junior Associate Professor, Ph.D.
The main attraction at KUAS is our courses, which emphasize dialogue between students and faculty, while the class itself incorporates group work and offers many opportunities for students to exchange ideas. One of my pastimes is talking with students after class.

  • Research
  • Dr. Mariko Nagano finished her graduate studies at The University of Tokyo, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in November 2015. From 2016 to 2021, she was an Adjunct Researcher at the University of Hyogo, Graduate School of Simulation Studies.

Subjects that Dr. Nagano is in charge of include Water Environmental Design Theory, Biodiversity, Academic Writing, Environmental Chemistry Exercise Evolution (part-time), and so forth.

  • Plankton, which live in precious freshwater environments on Earth, are not only threatened by alien species just like any other group of organisms but also live in fragile environments that are susceptible to climate change. Dr. Nagano conducts research from an ecological and evolutionary biological perspective, including environmental assessment by plankton communities, elucidation of intraspecific variation, adaptability using daphniids, and detection of endangered species using environmental DNA techniques.
