How safe is Japan?

Japan is widely known as one of the safest countries in the world.
The crime rate is relatively low, even in large cities like Tokyo and Osaka. The people are good-natured and everywhere you go is safe and clean. If you ever need assistance, Japan has a well-organized police system, and many stations in urban areas offer multilingual support for international visitors and residents.

Is it expensive to live in Japan?

The cost of living in Japan can vary depending on your lifestyle.
On average, international students spend around 110,000 JPY per month, including rent, food, transportation, and other daily expenses. Public transportation is efficient and affordable, and our cafeterias on campus or convenience stores offer many budget-friendly meal options.

How is Kyoto different from other cities in Japan?

As Japan’s ancient capital for over 1,000 years, Kyoto is famous for its historic temples, shrines, and beautifully preserved streets. Unlike big cities like Tokyo or Osaka, Kyoto offers a quieter, more traditional atmosphere where you can experience the heart of Japanese culture.
At the same time, Kyoto is also a student-friendly city, home to many universities and international students. It’s easy to find cultural activities, seasonal festivals, and even traditional arts like tea ceremony or kimono wearing.
If you’re interested in history, nature, and a slower pace of life, Kyoto offers a very special experience that’s different from the fast-paced urban lifestyle of Japan’s larger cities.

Do you offer visa support?

The KUAS International Admissions Office will assist you in acquiring a COE (Certificate of Eligibility), which you can then take to the Japanese consulate or embassy in your country to apply for a visa.
Once an applicant has been accepted to our program, they will be instructed to submit all information required for their visa application directly to KUAS.
To ensure that you receive your COE on time, please be sure to submit all documents and payments on or before their deadlines, including all documents which prove your financial solvency.

Is there a minimum amount of funds I must show on the financial statement for my visa application?

While KUAS does not require a minimum amount of funds for you to enroll, the Japanese student visa application process requires you to demonstrate that you have sufficient financial capacity to support your studies in Japan.
Detailed information about the specific financial documentation required for the visa application is sent to all students after they have been accepted.
