Campuses

Kameoka City, located in the western part of Kyoto Prefecture, is known for its rich natural surroundings and peaceful atmosphere. Set on a gently sloping hillside, the Kameoka Campus spans an expansive 231,764 square meters, offering a spacious and inspiring environment for study and research. Although the campus extends across the hills of Kameoka, a bus stop located at the main entrance provides convenient access to Uzumasa Campus and three major train stations, ensuring easy connectivity.
Surrounded by abundant greenery, students can grow both academically and personally in a setting that supports physical and mental well-being. From athletic fields to wooded areas, the entire campus serves as a place of learning—encouraging hands-on education, exploration, and collaboration in close connection with nature.
Since the founding of KUAS in 1969, the campus has been expanded and continually developed. Today, it serves as a key base for advanced research and innovation. In its open and tranquil surroundings, time seems to flow at a more relaxed pace, allowing students to focus deeply on their studies while enjoying a balanced university life.

Expansive Grounds in a Nature-Rich Setting

Spanning a vast area and home to more than ten buildings, Kameoka Campus offers a comprehensive learning environment supported by extensive facilities. Athletic fields, a baseball field, and gymnasiums are used for Sports Life Skills (SLS) classes as well as club activities, encouraging students to develop both physical strength and practical life skills.
Cultural clubs make use of facilities such as tea ceremony rooms and studios, while outdoor stages host concerts and performances during campus festivals. The generous campus size relative to the student population creates a relaxed atmosphere, with many spaces where students can unwind and pursue their interests.
A distinctive feature of Kameoka Campus is its practical learning environments, including agricultural fields, forests, and food-processing facilities used by the Faculty of Bioenvironmental Sciences. Students study and conduct research in settings directly aligned with their academic disciplines, enabling immersive, hands-on experiences that connect theory with practice.

Learning Environment

Kameoka Campus features two libraries: the university’s largest Main Library and a specialized library for students of the Faculty of Bioenvironmental Sciences, located in the Bioenvironmental Sciences Building.
Both libraries provide access to e-books and online databases. The specialized library houses resources related to bioenvironmental science and offers quiet study areas. The Main Library includes both silent study spaces and collaborative learning areas, with extensive collections in languages and general education subjects.
A computer room equipped with desktop PCs and specialized software is located in the Bioenvironmental Scicences Building. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus.

Dining and Campus Services

The cafeteria, newly renovated in 2025, provides affordable daily menus, including Japanese-style set meals, noodles, and curry, with vegan and halal-friendly options available.
During the academic term, food trucks visit regularly, offering a variety of international cuisines. Bento lunch boxes are also sold in the Bioenvironmental Sciences Building at lunchtime.
The well-stocked convenience store offers snacks and beverages, while the bookstore provides textbooks, magazines, and stationery at discounted prices.
