Uzumasa Campus — Urban Energy and Cultural Inspiration

Established in 2015, KUAS Uzumasa Campus offers a contemporary learning environment in one of Kyoto City’s historic districts. Located just steps from Uzumasa-Tenjingawa Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway, the campus provides excellent access and a convenient commute for students.
Situated close to downtown Kyoto and surrounded by significant cultural and historical sites, students can experience the rich traditions of the city while studying in a fully equipped university setting. Its urban location also offers easy access to shopping, dining, and entertainment, allowing students to balance academic life with the energy of the city.

Compact Yet Highly Functional Design

KUAS Uzumasa Campus consists of four main buildings positioned on the north, south, east, and west sides of the campus. Academic programs are organized by building—for example, Engineering classes are primarily held in the South Building, while Business programs are based in the North and West Buildings. This clear layout makes campus life intuitive and efficient, allowing students to move easily between classes. Each building houses a wide range of facilities within spacious interiors, with classrooms ranging from large lecture halls to smaller rooms ideal for group work and discussions.
All four buildings were completed between 2015 and 2020 and are modern, well-maintained, and designed for comfort. At the center of the campus is a sunny courtyard enclosed by the four buildings. It serves as a popular gathering space for students and is also used for events.

Compared to the expansive Kameoka Campus, Uzumasa offers a more compact and vibrant environment, with a lively atmosphere that encourages close communication and collaboration. Numerous shared spaces—including learning commons and student lounges—are available for group study and creative activities. The campus is thoughtfully designed to help students connect, exchange ideas, and innovate.

Focused and Specialized Learning Environment

At Uzumasa Campus, students can devote themselves to study and projects in a dynamic learning environment supported by specialized facilities and academic resources.
To enhance accessibility and support efficient learning, the campus maintains two libraries: the North Building Library and the Engineering Library located in the South Building.
The North Building Library houses collections related to economics, business administration, humanities, and medical sciences, including magazines, professional texts, and audiovisual materials. The Engineering Library features a wide range of advanced scholarly resources in the field of engineering. Conveniently located near the engineering laboratories, it serves as an ideal space for quick research and reference.

Both libraries provide access to e-books and online databases, and each includes quiet study areas for focused individual work as well as collaborative spaces where students can discuss and learn together.
Computer rooms equipped with desktop PCs are available in both the North and South Buildings. These computers are installed with specialized software and applications for academic and professional use. In addition, campus-wide Wi-Fi allows students to study on their own devices in areas beyond the libraries and computer rooms.
Furthermore, the South Building features state-of-the-art workshops and laboratories equipped with the latest technology, providing an ideal environment for innovation and hands-on learning. Here, students can turn their creative ideas into reality through research activities and personal projects.

Dining and Daily Convenience

To support student life, Uzumasa Campus offers a cafeteria, convenience store, and bookstore. The cafeteria serves affordable daily menus featuring Japanese-style set meals, noodles, and curry. While regular service hours are mainly during lunchtime for most students, breakfast and dinner are also provided for dormitory residents with meal plans.
During the academic term, food trucks visit the campus on a rotating basis, offering a variety of options such as pizza, kebabs, and crepes.
The convenience store provides easy access to snacks, drinks, and daily necessities. The bookstore sells textbooks, magazines, and stationery at student-discounted prices.
In addition, the surrounding neighborhood offers supermarkets, shopping malls, and restaurants, making daily life comfortable and convenient.

Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Uzumasa Campus respects and supports the diversity of its community. The campus is designed to be accessible and barrier-free, ensuring that all students can navigate facilities comfortably. Multipurpose restrooms are available for all users, and women’s restrooms include dedicated spaces for changing and personal care. Separate prayer rooms for men and women are available and open for use at any time. The cafeteria also offers vegan and halal-friendly menu options to accommodate diverse cultural, religious, and dietary needs.
