京都先端科学大学の構成員の皆様へ

新型コロナウイルス感染症に、ワクチン接種は有効な対策です。

世界の多くの国でワクチン接種が進められ、発症率の低下や重症化を防ぐ効果が認められています。

私は、皆さんと皆さんの大切な人を守るために、構成員全員にワクチン接種をしてほしいと思っています。

ただし、本学は、接種を強制しませんし、接種しないことで大学の活動において不利益が生じることがないことを申しあげておきます。

ワクチン接種をためらう人たちの中には、副反応を心配する声を多く聞きます。若い人に強く出る、女性に強く出る等々のニュースを目にされることも多いでしょう。しかし、ワクチンが体の中に入り、それに反応して免疫ができるのですから、副反応が出るということは体の中で免疫がつくられていることなのです。

現時点においては、多くの人がワクチン接種をすることが感染抑制への近道だと考えられています。

本学では、自治体との協力の下、6月22日（火）から学生、教職員に対して新型コロナウィルスワクチンの職域接種を開始しました。希望者が一日も早くワクチン接種できるよう、全構成員の協力体制により進めています。

ワクチンを接種しても、免疫ができるまでには一定時間がかかりますし、絶対に感染しないというわけではありません。3密の回避、マスクの着用、手洗い励行などは引き続き実行していくことが必要です。

ワクチン接種をするかどうかは皆さんご自身の意思で決めていただきたい。そして、一日も早く、これまでの日常を取り戻し、充実した学生生活をおくってほしいと思っています。

 [Message from the President] Protect Yourself and Those You Care About

Dear KUAS Community Members,

The COVID-19 vaccination is an effective measure against COVID-19.

Vaccination campaigns against COVID-19 are progressing all over the world, and these vaccinations have proven effective in reducing the incidence of infection and preventing serious illness. To protect yourself and those important to you, I ask that all members of our campus community undergo vaccination.

At the same time, the vaccine is not mandatory, and no one will be penalized in any way if they choose not to get the vaccine.

I understand that many people are hesitant to get vaccinated because they are worried about potential side effects. You may have seen news reports that young people or women have a stronger reaction to the vaccine. However, this reaction is the vaccine doing its job and is a sign that the body is building immunity against the virus.

At this point, vaccinating as many people as possible may be our best chance at bringing the pandemic under control.

In cooperation with the local government, Kyoto University of Advanced Science began offering vaccines to students, faculty and staff on Tuesday, June 22nd. All of our staff are working hard to ensure that everyone at KUAS who wishes to receive the vaccine can do so as soon as possible.

Even after vaccination, it takes time to develop immunity. Furthermore, being vaccinated does not guarantee that you will not be infected. Therefore, we all must continue to practice social distancing, wear masks, and regularly wash our hands.

It is up to you to decide whether or not you wish to be vaccinated. At the same time, I want all of you to be able to return to enjoying your lives as university students as soon as possible.

Once again, to protect yourself and those important to you, I ask that all members of our campus community undergo vaccination.
